Civil Rights Organization in Salt Lake City, Utah

NAACP Salt Lake Branch is a civil rights organization based in Salt Lake City, Utah. We focus on civil rights issues surrounding discrimination against United States citizens while providing college and youth scholarships that help our members avoid the traps of discriminatory loans and lending practices.

What We Do:
Educate –
We educate people as to their constitutional rights and take all lawful action in furtherance of these objectives, consistent with our constitution.
Get Politically Involved – By promoting voter registration, we encourage sponsorship for civil rights legislation and bills both locally and nationally.
Provide Resources – Our goal is to offer access to resources related to the reporting of discrimination and civil rights issues, including discriminatory payday lending.

Statement of Objective
The purpose and aims of our organization shall be to improve the political, educational, social, and economic status of minority groups. In turn, to eliminate racial prejudice, to keep the public aware of the adverse effects of racial discrimination, and to take lawful action to secure its elimination. Consistent with the efforts of the national organization and in conformity with the articles of Incorporation of the Association, its Constitution, and By-Laws as directed by the National Board of Directors.

Monthly meetings:
General Membership & Executive Committee Meetings, 3rd Tuesday of each month
6:00 p.m., Law & Justice Center, 645 South 200 East (Meetings are held virtually since the pandemic)
